City Council Holds Second Public Hearing On Graffiti

(Columbus)-- Columbus City Councilmembers Zach Klein, chair of the Development Committee, and Michelle M. Mills, chair of the Public Safety and Judiciary Committee, will hold a joint hearing to discuss proposed changes to laws designed to combat graffiti in Columbus neighborhoods.  In April, Councilmembers held a public hearing to listen to concerns of residents and business leaders about graffiti.  The proposal being discussed will add the offense of failure to control and abate graffiti to the nuisance code and require property owners to remove graffiti within 30 days of notice from Code Enforcement.  Failure to remove graffiti could result in the City abating the nuisance with costs associated with removal passed along to the property owner.

Per rules of City Council, speaker slips will be accepted until 5:30 the day of the hearing.
