New Citywide Residential Recycling is Coming Soon!
Convenient and easy at no additional cost to residents
Recycling is coming to Columbus. The new service is being rolled out to all residents living in single-family homes or in buildings with four units or less that are not part of a complex. The rollout takes place in five phases starting this spring and ending early 2013. Recycled items will be collected every other week, alternating with yard waste collection.
West, Southwest and Northwest Neighborhoods First to Start Recycling
Between April 16 and May 19, the city will deliver a blue recycling cart to every eligible household in phase one neighborhoods. (See map below.) When the cart arrives at curbside, that's just the beginning. Residents should follow these easy steps.
- Look inside for important information on what to recycle and collection dates.
- Store the cart where it can easily be filled with recyclables.
- Write the home address on the cart with a permanent marker.
- Fill it up with recyclables - no sorting necessary.
Carts should be placed in the same spot as the trash container for collection. Monday, June 4 is the first day for West, Southwest and Northwest neighborhoods' service.

A Perfect Fit
Recycling and Columbus were meant for each other, which is why the city named the new service RecyColumbus. The name is designed to show Columbus' pride and excitement in being a greener community and that our city is enthusiastic about recycling.
