| School May Be Out But the Learning Continues  The last day for students at CCS traditional schools was May 31, but students can continue their learning through our Summer Programs. The Ohio Graduation Test Summer Institute begins June 4. The High School Summer Program begins June 11. Courses for students in grades Kindergarten – 8 begin June 18. Free transportation is provided for all CCS students and free breakfast and lunch will be provided to all students through the Columbus Parks and Recreation Summer Meal Program. Most classes are also free. Visit our Summer School Webpage for all the details. Students to Create World Record Penny Chain  Students from 39 different Columbus City Schools participated in the Penny Harvest service learning program . The students, school staff, and countless others, collected more than $50,000 in pennies through the Penny Harvest program. As the students plan how they will donate every penny they collected, they are also planning on creating a world record continuous penny chain that will extend 75 miles at Genoa Park on June 3, during the final day of the Columbus Arts Festival. As you can imagine, this event will take lots of helping hands, so there is an open invitation for the community to come down and help the students set a new world record! AIMS Student Designs Winning Anti-Bullying Logo  Arts Impact Middle School seventh-grader Saraysia Nelson (pictured here with her winning design and her principal and teacher) based her design on the district's anti-bullying slogan, Live and Learn in Peace. Students participating in an after-school violence/bully prevention workshop developed the slogan earlier this school year. Saraysia was one of hundreds of students to enter the contest. Fort Hayes Arts & Academics HS to Accept Grammy Award  Fort Hayes Arts and Academics High School administrators and students will accept a check from the Grammy Foundation in honor of being named a Grammy Signature School for musical excellence. The award was announced earlier this year. The official presentation will take place during the school's graduation ceremony June 1, at the Lincoln Theater, 769 E.
