| Superintendent's Honor's and Recognition Ceremony Please join us November 13 as we recognize the outstanding work of Columbus City Schools' students, staff and community members at the Superintendent's Honors and Recognitions ceremony. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m., at Fairmoor Elementary School, 3281 Mayfair Park Place. Project Mentor and CCS Staff Recognized Project Mentor, sponsored by Columbus City Schools and Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Ohio, partners adults with middle school students to help students understand they can be successful. The program, along with a CCS graduate and a staff member, were recently featured in a Columbus Dispatch story talking about the programs success and impact on students. Read the article here. Northland Students Donate 716 Pounds of Food Students in the Northland High School Drama Club spent their Halloween picking up treats for others. Nearly 100 Northland students participated in Trick-or-Treat So Kids Can Eat, a program sponsored by the Educational Theater Association. Through this fund-raiser, students collected 716 pounds of non-perishable food items that were then donated to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. Two Columbus Schools Earn National Certification Status Eastmoor Academy and Northland High School will be honored at the 2012 Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Ohio Fall Conference for achieving National Certification Status for their academic programs. Eastmoor's biomedical program and Northland's biomedical and engineering programs are being recognized for demonstrating a commitment to PLTW's national standards. This certification provides students the opportunity to apply for college credit or receive college-level recognition at PLTW-affiliated universities when they complete select PLTW courses in high school. The PLTW Ohio Conference is scheduled for November 29 & 30, at Ohio University in Athens. Transportation Director Elected to National Board CCS Transportation Director Steve Simmons was recently elected to the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) Region 3 Board of Directors. He will represent Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin along with Canadian provinces of Manitoba, New Brunswick and Prince Edward.
