Northland HS Takes Top Two Spots in Try-Math-Alon
Northland High School students recently finished in the top two positions of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Local Try-Math-Alon. After 30 minute individual math tests, the teams then faced a one-hour engineering contest consisting mostly of Physics-related work, and then a Jeopardy-style Quiz Bowl where they were challenged by questions about algebra, geometry, numbers and operations, data analysis and probability. Finishing first was Northland Gold - Angela Holley, Justin Hill, Kumar Dhital, Martine Montero, and Jillian Deas. Northland Nation - Jasmine Winston, Viet Nguyen, Walid Musa, Jesse Umoette, and James Strickland - came in second. Both teams now advance to the regional NSBE competition in Chicago.
