Mayor Coleman to Receive Analysis of 21st Century Workforce Skills

Mayor, Council President Ginther, Former Chancellor Fingerhut Schedule Three Additional Education Briefings

 

Mayor Michael B. Coleman, City Council President Andrew J. Ginther and Columbus Education Advisor Eric D. Fingerhut will hear an analysis of the skills students will need to acquire in order to succeed in the economic opportunities of the 21st Century next week. The second of four education briefings will be held at from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the Columbus Downtown High School, 364 S. 4th St. Kenny McDonald, CEO of Columbus2020; Stacia Edwards, director of global STEM workforce development of Battelle; and David Harrison, president of Columbus State Community College will provide information about workforce in the 21st Century. Parking will be available.

 

The schedule of future briefings is as follows:

-       Innovations in Teaching and Learning: a discussion about the impact of new technology and other innovations on K-12 education and how innovation is  changing the roles of teachers, principals, administrators and public officials; Thursday, November 1 at 2 pm at Metro Early College High School.

-       Education and the Community: a survey of important education opportunities outside the school district walls that improve student achievement; Friday, November 16 at 2 pm at Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.
