Councilmember Klein Celebrates New Northland Village Developments
Councilmember Zachary M. Klein, chair of the Development Committee, told a group of Northland area business leaders that he is thrilled with the continued development of the Northland Village site along Morse Road.  Speaking at a Northland Area Business Association luncheon, Councilmember Klein announced that three new businesses will soon be built on the site of the former Northland Mall:  Chipotle, Tim Hortons, and an AT&T store.

“This is a tremendous sign that the Northland community is heading in the right direction,” said Councilmember Klein.  “The City of Columbus, business owners, and area residents have made major investments of money and resources to bring this area to the point where we are at now; and we got here thanks to creating an attractive commercial environment all along the Morse Road corridor.”

Columbus invested more than $26-million in roadway improvements that included new pavement, bike lanes, medians and utilities.  Morse Road business owners also participated in a Special Improvement District, a program that paid for planters, banners and other services above and beyond normal city services.  Demolition of the former mall began in 2002 with some of the site preserved for use by the Ohio Department of Taxation.   Franklin County has built a new dog shelter on the property and two months ago the latest addition to the site,
Mendards, opened its doors.

“There is an unmistakable amount of momentum that Northland Village Developers, the group that is leading the transformation of the site, is bringing to the Morse Road area and indeed the entire Northland community,” said Klein.

The three new stores at Northland Village should be open this fall.
