Costco CCS Appreciation Day
Faculty, friends and families of Columbus City Schools are invited to a Teacher Appreciation Day event Sunday, May 15, 2011, from 11 am to 5 pm, at 1500 Gemini Place. A warehouse club membership is not required. Simply share what school you're from.

District 2011-12 School Year Calendar Classes for traditional schools begin Aug. 24, 2011.

13th Annual Inspirational Youth Award
The Inspirational Award recognizes middle and high school students involved in outstanding community service. The top winner receives a computer and finalists receive a cash prize. Friday, May 27, 2011, is the application deadline. Apply today!

Columbus Teen Idol
For contestant ages 13-19. The grand prize is a $400 demo recording session and free music coaching. The show begins 1 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the Easton Town Center Funny Bone Cafe.

    CCS National Children's Day Community Festival
    Columbus City Schools will host FREE festivals Saturday April 30 at five area schools across the District. Each region will host a range of entertaining activities, artistic displays, games, and student performances, as well as share the wide range of challenging, innovative academic programs and services the district offers.     CCS Student Poetry Slam: Sat., April 30
    Students from 18 District high schools will perform their original poetry as they compete in the CCS Preliminary Poetry Slam competition Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Eastmoor Academy HS, 417 S. Weyant Ave. The Poetry Slam gives students an opportunity to write about what they know: their lives, struggles, and successes. During the poetry slam, the poets will have three minutes to perform their original work. A panel of three judges will rate their poems on a 10-point scale.

    Technology and Trade College Fair Day: Sat., April 30
    Columbus City Council Member A. Troy Miller, chair of the Columbus City Council Administration Committee, is sponsoring a special Technology and Trade College Fair Day, Saturday, April 30 from noon - 4 p.m., at the Barack Recreation Center, 580 Woodrow Avenue. More than 30 area schools and programs are expected to participate. Click here for more information.


    Columbus Museum of Art CCS Family Day: Sun., May 1
    Join us for the Columbus City Schools Day for Families at the Columbus Museum of Art, Sunday, May 1, 2011, from 1-5 p.m. This FREE event is open to all CCS K-12 students, their families, and CCS staff. Click here for more information.


    2011 Columbus City School Kindergarten Registration
    Registration for Columbus City Schools, full-day kindergarten program is underway and continues through May.     CCS Baseball Day at OSU; Induction of Young Scholars
    More than 2,500 sixth-grade students from throughout Columbus City Schools (CCS) will participate in an educational pep rally and baseball game at The Ohio State University, Tuesday, May 17, 2011, when OSU plays against the Toledo University Rockets. Now in its seventh year, CCS Baseball Day's intent is to show students the opportunities available and advantages of higher education, as well as the importance of staying in school.     Take Your Child to Work Day 2011
    The national observation of "Take Your Child to Work Day", was Thursday, April 28, 2011; which coincided with the administration of the Ohio Achievement Tests. Accordingly, Columbus City Schools will observe "Take Your Child to Work Day" on Thursday, May 19, 2011. NOTE: All participating students must provide an absence excuse note with their parent's signature upon returning to school.
