Reminder: 5XNW Area Commission Meeting Tomorrow Night - 7pm 1100 King Ave, Lower level of the Reitter Bldg.

All:

Reminder: The Fifth by Northwest Area Commission meeting will be held tomorrow night/Tuesday night, April 5th at 7pm, 1100 King Avenue - Lower Level of the Reitter Bldg. In the 40 Plus of Central Ohio (Job search group) meeting space.

We will be discussing zoning applications, tree planting plans, community garden updates, and the Farmer's Market - as well as an update about current crime statistics (we are still one of the safest neighborhood's in Columbus), as well as additional updates as to what is going on in the 5XNW community.

So, check out our Web site at www.fifthbynorthwest.org -- and drop by our meeting tomorrow night, if you live/work/conduct business or play in our area - all are welcome!
Recent accomplishments:
  • We have recently worked with the City of Columbus to plant 7 trees along W. Fifth Avenue, and ultimately would like to have trees all of the way along this connector to the University District Area Commission, Harrison West, Upper Arlington, Marble Cliff and Grandview Heights.
  • King Avenue to be resurfaced & considered for bike-path sharrows ("Share the Road" with bikes arrows as a result), sidewalks to be put in on King and Northwest Blvd., started a community garden thru our civic organization at Blvd. Presbyterian, and completed our Urban Commercial Overlay Zoning documentation/Neighborhood Plan last year.

A recent addition to our area, speaking of business, to check out is Matt the Miller's restaurant newly opened as of this week at the Windsor Bldg. on Grandview Avenue (where the fire was in the Wagennbrenner Bldg.). Check it out - it is a beautiful spot!

Hope to see you all, not only tomorrow night - but our upcoming Neighborhood Design Ctr. meeting with respect to the trees - at the same place/same time on the 26th of April. We would like to get as many property owners/business owners there - from the West Fifth Avenue corridor - to approve putting trees in, and then the City can take it from there! Look for upcoming news coverage on this item soon, in the local media!

Thanks, all!
